Member Login

1.  Members have access to all public pages and the members-only portion of the site. To log in, click "Log In" at the top of the home page.  The system will prompt you to enter your username and password. Your username is the username you have been using given to you from the GSP office, or you can also enter the email address tied to your membership account. Once logged in, you can edit your membership information by using the "edit" tab (which displays on the top of the login page), or you can continue to access the rest of the site by using the menu bar.

2.  To change your password, click on the Edit tab at the top of the page. Type the password you would like to use in the password box, then type it again to confirm it. Your password must be at least four characters long.

3.  If you've forgotten your password, click on "Log In" and then click the "Request New Password" tab at the top of the screen.  Enter the email address tied to your account, and then click "Email new password".  A link will be emailed to your email inbox to reset your password.  If you don't receive the link at least 15 minutes after resetting it, please check your program's spam filter.  If you still have not received it, please contact us at the email address above and we will reset it for you.

SEARCHING THE ONLINE COLLECTIONS:

Search for records in the GSP digital library to find information about your ancestors. You can access these collections from the Home page or from the Online Collections page. See two examples below:

From the Home page -

GenPa Home Page Search

From the Online Collections page -

GenPa Online Collections Search

Please note: The new GSP website employs OCR (Optical Character Recognition)  software.  While OCR'ing documents is the best technical option available today for quickly reading and scanning text images, it remains imperfect.

If you have not found who you are looking for by using the search methods within the GSP collections, we urge you not to give up! Taking the time to browse the collections may reveal the information you are seeking.

SEARCH TIPS

  • New collections are continually being added to the site, so please check back often.

  • Try different types of search terms.

  • You can limit searches to certain types of record groups by using the drop down menus within the search function -

GenPa - Home Page Search - Drop Down Menu

  • Printing from PDF: Some of the files found on this site are large, for example, The Philadelphia Public Ledger Index for Marriages and Deaths, 1844 - 1851, surnames DEV - FA, is fifty pages. If you only need two pages from those fifty, you do not need to print all fifty. From the PDF print icon (or your browser's print command), you can choose which pages to print.
