on the Western Frontier, 1762-1787"

Join us with presenter:

Karen Morrow

(whose husband is the 6th generation to farm in Sinking Valley, Tyrone Township, Blair County, PA)

In 1762, the Honorable the Proprietaries (i.e., the Penns) had two manors surveyed in Sinking Creek Valley, Cumberland County.  Follow along through history as the jurisdiction of the manors changed from Cumberland, to Bedford, to Huntingdon, and finally to Blair County.  Along the way, the manors came under the jurisdiction of Tyrone Township, Huntingdon County, which at its formation in 1787 extended into what are today 11 different townships in 3 different counties - Huntingdon, Blair, and Centre.
