Bruce Katsiff, former Director of the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA, will present "Magic Mirrors and the Pencil of Nature: Identifying 19th Century Photographs", a discussion about photographic processes used in the 19th Century. Bruce has invited attendees to bring their own vintage photos to the lecture for identification.
About the speaker:
Born in Philadelphia, Bruce Katsiff studied photography at Rochester Institute of Technology and Pratt Institute earning BFA and MFA degrees. He completed postgraduate studies at Oxford University. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries including the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. For 25 years he taught photography and was a college arts administrator. From 1989-2012, he served as Director/CEO of the James A. Michener Art Museum in Bucks County.
The fee to attend the meeting is $5 for members and $10 for non-members, and will be collected at the door. Reservations are not required.
