Dauphin County Births Title and Preface

“Birth records used for this the fifteenth volume in a series of Pennsylvania Births were found primarily in German Reformed and Lutheran church registers. Unfortunately early birth and baptismal Birth records for the Presbyterian congregations, if they were maintained, apparently have not survived.
The purpose of this work is to provide historians with a comprehensive index to the birth and baptismal records found in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania’s early church registers. A variety of sources were used for this compilation, published works, manuscripts both handwritten and typed, original records, and copies of original records found on microfilm. Names and dates for all records were copied verbatim. No attempt was made to correct variant spellings of surnames. Some birth/baptismal records for German congregations copied from English translations.”
