Jessica Lydon, Associate Archivist, Special Collections Research Center, Temple University Libraries


Jessica holds a BA in Creative Writing from Eckerd College and a MLIS with a concentration in archival studies from Drexel University. Prior to working at Temple, Jessica held positions at the Drexel University Archives, the University of Pennsylvania’s Biddle Law Library Archives, The Franklin Institute Archives, and the McLean Library at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. As Associate Archivist, Jessica is primarily responsible for accessioning new acquisitions, processing, cataloging, and preserving archival material as related to the Philadelphia Jewish Archives Collection. In August 2013, Jessica achieved the designation of Certified Archivist through the Academy of Certified Archivists, a national membership organization dedicated to promoting standards for archival practice and professional development.


 Jessica will make two short presentations:


1. “Genealogical Resources at Temple University Libraries’ Special Collections Research Center” – an introduction to the resources available for genealogical research at the SCRC.


2. “Digitizing Philadelphia’s Steamship Ticket Purchase Ledgers” - an overview of the planning, process, and progress of an active project to digitize and make freely available ledgers produced by Philadelphia’s steamship agents that document the sale of prepaid steamship tickets for passage to/from America.
