CCHS volunteer, Lisa Brousse, will lead an updated tour of Ashland Cemetery. The tour will cover the history of the cemetery, changes in burial customs over the years and a discussion of ten important Carlisle citizens buried there, at least half of whom are women. Rose Brown, genealogist, will present a four week genealogy workshop for beginners wanting to find their roots. There is a non-refundable materials fee ($10.00 for members, $15.00 for non-members). WPGS Genealogy Open House
Join us for a Beginning Genealogy talk presented by Marilyn Holt, head of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Department, followed by an Open House in the library with WPGS board members and volunteers on hand to answer questions about WPGS and assist you with your research.
Presented by Janet Taylor, this talk will focus on the Underground Railroad in Perry County, its connection to the network in the surrounding counties, and routes used to move fugitive slaves toward freedom.
We will follow up with a bus trip on April 10th to focus on the Underground Railroad in Perry County.
