Donating Collections
If you have family photographs, documents, Bible records, family records and histories that you would like to preserve and make available for family researchers, please consider donating them to the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania.
We also accept scanned or digital copies of materials, with a preference for items that we can feature on our website. External hard drives and flash drives are also welcome.
If you rename your digital files with the titles of the items and use OCR software on PDFs to make them searchable, this will enable us to post the items to the website sooner.
Thank you for contributing to our collections! Your contributions help with our efforts to preserve genealogical resources and make them available for people now and in the future.
DONATION ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
GSP collections have been digitized thanks to our members and donors, including a generous bequest from Ruth Bitting Hamm, a family historian and benefactor of several genealogical and historical organizations nationwide.
Born July 3, 1915 in Torrington, Wyoming, Ruth became a member of GSP in 1972 during her research of Pennsylvania family members who numbered among the early settlers in the area. Ruth devoted 69 years of service to the Daughters of the American Revolution and chaired numerous committees. She was Registrar and Chapter Regent of the Letitia Green Stevenson Chapter in Illinois where she lived her adult life, and also served as Councilor for the National Society Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America. Ruth was an accomplished researcher of the history of the areas where her ancestors lived and she published several books, including Soldiers of the American Revolution Buried in Illinois and The Bitting Family Then and Now. She died July 12, 2008.
The Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania is grateful to Mrs. Hamm for her generous bequest to GSP which allows us to offer these digital collections to generations of future researchers, and to preserve the histories of our ancestors. If, like Mrs. Hamm, you would like to support GSP in its digital preservation work either through contributions or sponsoring individual collections, please email us at info@genpa.org or donate at the link below.
