PA and NJ Church and Town Records on Ancestry.com includes GSP collections now housed at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.

  • Birth and Death certificates prior to 1906 The Division of Vital Records began collecting birth and death certificates in 1906. Contact the appropriate Pennsylvania County Courthouse for births and deaths that occurred prior to 1906. Pennsylvania residents can obtain birth records from 1906-1913 and death records from 1906-1967 by entering their zip code at the free Ancestry.com Pennsylvania site.
  • Marriage and Divorce certificates filed in Pennsylvania are not available from the Division of Vital Records. These certificates are usually obtained from the courthouse in the county where the marriage license was issued or divorce decree was granted.
  • Pennsylvania Adoptions – Original Birth Certificates
    Information about obtaining original birth certificates for adoptees is available through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
